Basaan 2017 and Parada ng Lechon 2017, Balayan Batangas

I ticked off one of the places in "Biyahe Tayo!" tourism campaign, Balayan Batangas. Although in the lyrics, Lechong Balayan was to be tasted, we came to the Parada ng Lechon to experience Basaan (Feast of St. John the Baptist). Fiesta ng San Juan or locally known as Basaan is celebrated along side with Parada ng Lechon (King of All Batangas Festivals).

Some facts about Balayan:
  • Balayan was a Philippine province for 151 years (1581-1732)
  • It was the first municipality in Southern Tagalog and the first province in Southern Luzon.
  • It was also the cradle of Christianity and seat of civilization in the region during the early centuries.

Foam Party with Concert

Balayan, Batangas
Town Center

Parada ng Lechon is celebrated yearly every 24th day of June. Roasted pigs are dressed and paraded around the town of Balayan. After which, Basaan commences. People all over the town floods the streets with there water guns and other clever ways of making all wet! Literally soaking wet! From commuters to passers by, were not shown mercy. We had the experience of being splashed with water as cold as ice while traveling to the main district of Balayan. It was Fun! We arrived late but people are still in the festive mood, offering tourist with liquor and then afterwards splash them with ice cold water.

You can see all the water splashed everywhere! Literally here and there

Better waterproof everything. And arrive early to kick off the Basaan in full blast where water will be flooding every street.
